Non-Destructive Examination

Metal Surgery now offers a full service Non-Destructive Examination laboratory including a full time level III, certified in accordance with SNT-TC-1A on staff. Commonly inspected items include but are not limited to castings, forgings and welded fabrications.

1. Level III Services, Training/Certification for Lv. I and Lv. II technicians, Special techniques/Procedure development and Technical assistance.
2. RT: (Radiographic Testing) Up to 3 inches thick with 2% or better sensitivity to allow complete volumetric examination and specification compliance.

3. UT: (Ultrasonic Testing) Longitudinal and/or shear waves employed for complete volumetric exam, material thickness and material velocity verification and specification compliance. (Onsite or in-house)
4. MT: (Magnetic Particle Testing) Visible or fluorescent, wet or dry exams to assure specimen surfaces conform to specification requirements. (Onsite or in-house)
5. PT: (Liquid Penetrant Testing) Visible or fluorescent exams for specimen compliance to specification requirements. (Onsite or in-house)
6. VT: (Visual Testing) Visual exams to assure specification compliance. (Onsite or in-house)
