This 14-foot PTO quill shaft for a 1,000’ ore carrier was damaged on the bearing and seal surfaces due to bearing failure. Repair procedure consisted of machining the centers, bearings and seal surfaces for complete cleanup and to maintain concentricity; copper plate approximately .015 per side; machine and nickel-plate to specifications.
